The kidnapped son of Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Ali Isa Pantami, has been freed.

On Friday, the minister’s son was found at a checkpoint in Dambam, Bauchi State.

No ransom was paid, the person said.

Alamin Isa Ali Pantami, the victim, lives with his grandma.

“We just left the house; he is returning home now,” stated one of the victim’s guardians. His abductors left him in Dambam. They took him to a checkpoint and brought him home.”

On Friday afternoon, Imam Hussaini, the Chief Imam of Isa Ali Jummaat Mosque, informed Daily Trust, “The boy is at home.”

But Bauchi’s PPRO, Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, says nothing was reported.

He told Daily Trust that he contacted all Divisional Police Officers in the city and they indicated the situation was not reported.

When asked about his reaction to the kidnapping, he said,

“All we ask of the public is to provide us with credible information about suspicious persons moving about in their midst and to contact the police if necessary.”

Nigerians have often urged the government to address the issue of kidnapping.

Dayo Adewole, son of the then Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, was abducted in 2019.

Abducted from his farm near Fiditi in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State, Adewole was released after 24 hours.

She was kidnapped last year at Rantiya Lowcost in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, but she was released 48 hours later.
