Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara delivered 260 automobiles to the state’s traditional rulers while commissioning the state’s ultramodern offices of the state Council of Ulama.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, made the distribution at Government House in Gusau.
The Sultan thanked Matawalle for his concern in the ancient institution’s well-being, which he noted is still the thread that binds society together.
He also urged the recipients of the gift to continue to support Governor Matawalle’s administration by doing their best to help the people overcome the issues they face.
The gesture, according to Matawalle, was made in acknowledgment of the traditional institution’s role as keepers of religion and culture, as well as a vehicle for social harmony and peace.
“We chose to acquire brand new Cadillac 2019 Model automobiles for 17 Emirs, 13 Senior District Heads, and 230 District Heads across the State because of the great regard with which my government considers our traditional leaders and institutions,” the Governor remarked.
