82 terrorists were killed by military airstrikes in Rafin Dankura in the Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State, when they were engaged in a firefight with forces.
The Military High Command confirmed this on Thursday at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. They stated that the terrorists were attempting to abduct innocent villagers when troops attached to Forward Operation Base, Bakura, Operation HADARIN DAJI responded to distress calls.
During a press briefing, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Benard Onyeuko, stated that at least 4,770 terrorists surrendered to the Nigerian military in Borno State between June 16 and June 30, 2022.
According to him, the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI conducted an air interdiction on June 22 in Kofar Danya Village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
According to him, the bombing was carried out in response to warnings of an impending attack on Kofar Danya Village. The air component arrived at the site and spotted more than 150 terrorists huddled together in dense undergrowth.
Onyeuko claimed that the Nigerian Air Force attacked the terrorists with severe bombardment, resulting in the destruction of their concentration camp.
“As a result, credible information from villagers in the vicinity of Kofar Danya revealed that over 82 terrorists suffered serious casualties, as many of them were neutralised and others had varying degrees of injury,” he explained.
He stated that following the engagement, troops freed six kidnapped citizens, neutralised two bandits, and recovered two AK-47s, one 36mm hand grenade, two mobile phones, and N211,915.00.
In addition, the senior military commander stated that forces engaged two roaming terrorists at Maigora in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State and neutralised them.
During the period under review, he stated that Operation HADIN KAI soldiers rescued abducted victims, neutralised terrorists, and detained terrorist members in the North-East.
Also, he stated that between 17 and 18 June 2022, troops of the 152nd Battalion encountered fleeing Boko Haram Terrorist/Islamic State West Africa Province fighters at Buduwa in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, engaged the terrorists, neutralised seven, and recovered 14 stolen cattle and three bicycles.
On June 21, 2022, the forces also detained other terrorist collaborators and logistical supplies.
Onyeuko stated, “Mallam Abacha Usman was apprehended in Benshek, Mallam Ibrahim Gira along Damboa – Biu Road, and Mallam Ibrahim Gira, a notorious terrorist fuel dealer, was apprehended along Damboa – Biu Road.”
“As a result, troops neutralised 11 terrorists, arrested 11 others, and recovered 14 stolen cattle, 2 AK47 rifles, 3 bicycles, 2 locally-made firearms, 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 1 golf cart, and 2 automobiles.”
Also, between 1 and 15 June 2022, a total of 4,770 Boko Haram terrorists surrendered to our troops at various sites in the theatre, including 864 adult males, 1,415 adult females, and 2,485 children.
All surrendered Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State West Africa Province members and their families were profiled and recorded, while all arrested and recovered materials were turned over to the proper authority for future action.
