In Monday’s attack on a Kaduna-bound train, members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) were among those killed.
During the incident, Shauntv learned that the union’s Secretary-General, Barr. Musa-Lawal Ozigi, and the TUC Chairman in Kwara, Comrade Akinsola Akinwunmi, were killed.
Some members of the union expressed their displeasure with the occurrence.
“We lost our Sec. Gen. (Secretary-General) and the Chairman of Kwara State,” a TUC source told Daily Trust over the phone.
Terrorists attacked a portion of the Kaduna-Abuja rail route, leading the train, which left Abuja at 6 p.m. on Monday, to derail, according to the Daily Trust.
They then opened fire on the passengers, kidnapping some and killing others.
Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan provided the most recent information on the rescue operation, saying that while eight bodies had been discovered, 26 others had been injured and were being treated.
He said that 362 people boarded the train, according to records received from the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
