The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has provided Nigeria Air’s interim management with an Air Transport License (ATL).
Nigeria Air, led by Captain Dapo Olumide, is the country’s proposed national airline.
ATL certification is a document that specifies the kind of operations a carrier would engage in for scheduled, non-scheduled, and cargo air services within and beyond Nigeria.
This licence comes before the Air Operator’s Certificate, which grants the airline the authority to fly scheduled commercial flights.
The ATL signed by the Director-General of the NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu, will last for five (5) years, from June 3, 2022 to June 2, 2027.
The new national airline is anticipated to operate both scheduled and unscheduled services. It is one of the licences received by airlines prior to beginning operations, as they wait for the all-important Flying Operator Certificate (AOC) that fully guarantees their authorization to begin air services.
In April 2022, Nigeria Air Limited, the intended national carrier, applied to the NCAA for a licence to operate scheduled and non-scheduled passenger and cargo service.
