On Monday evening, troops and suspected Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) fighters exchanged gunfire in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The gunfight, according to sources, lasted nearly a half hour.
According to reports, the ISWAP invaded the town via Biu highway, but were repelled by a quick response by the valiant troop.
“It was decisively defeated in Damboa by valiant men. The gunfight lasted around 25 minutes before they scattered in different directions, according to the source.
Attacks by ISWAP fighters have been staged in various locations of the North East.
