Salvation Proclaimer Ministries Limited (SPAC Nation), headed by the flamboyant Nigerian pastor Tobi Adegboyega, has been forced to cease operations for failing to account for more than £1.87 million in expenditures and operating without transparency.

The Insolvency Service said on Friday, June 17, that SPAC Nation, which was founded in 2012 to promote Christianity, was dissolved on June 9, 2022, in a High Court before Judge Burton.

The investigations revealed that SPAC Nation did not comply with or partially complied with statutory obligations, such as providing data to support claimed donations and accounting records to support $1.87 million in expenditures.

In the two-year period ending on December 31, 2019, the company’s financial accounts reflect £610,000 in rent, despite the fact that it did not have a permanent location in London and instead rented venues for its services.

Investigators also spoke with one of the company’s directors, Adedapo Olugbenga Adegboyega, also known as Pastor Dapo, who stated that the church had more than 2,000 members and 200 ordained ministers and pastors. However, he provided no evidence to substantiate his statements.

The court determined that the church, previously praised by UK politicians as a beacon of hope for ex-gang members, lacked openness, submitted suspect or erroneous accounts, and was bankrupt at the time of the hearing.

Edna Okhiria, the Insolvency Service’s top investigator, stated:

“While SPAC Nation claimed it had noble intentions to support vulnerable and young people, our enquiries uncovered a different side of the charity.

“There were clear concerns around how the church group managed its affairs and SPAC Nation failed to properly account for income received from donations and other expenditure.

“The court recognised the severity of SPAC Nation’s actions and this sends a strong message that proper records and accounts must be maintained, even if you’re a charity.”

Despite the fact that an organisation can be made to administratively dissolve and cease to exist under that name on the Organizations House register, companies have been known to emerge under a different name.

SPAC Nation relaunched as Nxtion Family in June 2020, one month after head pastor Tobi Adeboyega said he was stepping down as leader, albeit he remained at the organization’s helm.
