Mr. Oyeyemi Oyediran, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, has dispatched members of the Explosive Ordinance Device Unit (anti-bomb squad) to the location of the explosion in Owo Local Government Area.
This is according to a statement released in Akure on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami.
According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), an explosion occurred on Sunday at the St. Francis Catholic Church on Owa-luwa Street in Owo.
NAN also learned that a large number of persons were killed and injured as a result of an explosion that occurred on church property.
The CP stated that efforts were being strengthened to apprehend those responsible for the evil.
“The command is aware of the attack at Owo; we will provide you with the incident’s full information later.”
Oyediran stated, “We want to urge the people of the state to be calm as all security apparatus are now operating to maintain peace in the region.”
