On Tuesday, April 19th, an armed robbery suspect, Waheed Ijiyemi, was apprehended by personnel from the Ogun State Police Command while on his way to carry out a robbery operation.

The suspect was apprehended as CSP Bamidele Job, DPO Onipanu Division, was on normal patrol with his men and saw the suspect on an unregistered Bajaj motorbike. When the suspect saw the cops, he got off the motorcycle and took off running. He was hotly pursued and apprehended.

The small bag he was carrying was searched, and a locally made pistol with ten live cartridges was discovered inside.

Confirming his arrest, the state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that the suspect admitted to being an armed robber and that he was on his way to carry out an operation when he was detained.

Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be immediately transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for a thorough investigation.
