Prof. Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has offered a N10 million reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the murder of the state’s lawmaker, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye.

Last Thursday, the member of parliament representing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s constituency, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, was kidnapped.

However, his head was discovered without its body on Saturday in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

In a statement signed by the governor’s press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, and made available to journalists on Saturday night, the governor set a N10 million reward on the legislator’s killers.

Soludo added that he received the news of the brutal murder of Okechukwu Okoye, the representative for Aguata II Constituency in the State House of Assembly, and Cyril Chiegboka with shock and profound sorrow.

According to the governor, both Cyril Chiegboka and Hon. Okoye were kidnapped on the road on May 15th.

He expressed his condolences to his relatives in Isuofia, stressing that it is likely the same criminal group who attacked him and killed three police officers in Isuofia two years ago that is now on the prowl.

Soludo warned that all culprits and criminals working in Anambra would be dealt with firmly and brought to justice.

In addition, he reassured the citizens of Anambra of the government’s resolve and the security services’ renewed will to go all out against the offenders and bring them to justice.

In addition, the Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed profound sorrow at the news of the brutal murder of one of its members, the Honorable Okechukwu Okoye, by gunmen.

In a press release issued by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Uche Okafor, and made available to reporters on Saturday evening by the House Public Relations Officer, Emma Madu, the State Legislature described the passing of Hon. Okoye as “tragic and devastating.”

He advised Governor Chukwuma Soludo not to relent in his efforts to achieve the highest level of security for the lives and property of the Anambra State populace.

The congressman further urged well-intentioned folks to join the governor in this endeavour.

While condoling with the late Hon. Okoye’s immediate family, his kinsman, Governor Soludo, and the entire Isuofia community, the speaker, on behalf of the members of the State House of Assembly and the entire Legislature, urged them to take solace in the fact that the late Hon. Okoye’s brief but eventful life was filled with quality service to God and humanity.
