Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has stated that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may be unlikely to win the 2023 election in the South (PDP).
“You cannot zone what you don’t have,” Tambuwal stated during a consultative meeting with former principal officers of the National Assembly in Abuja on Tuesday.
As a result, he recommended the PDP leadership and other stakeholders to focus on winning the election before zoning it.
The governor also used a recent election as an example of why it may be tough for the PDP to win the presidency in the South based on the number of votes cast.
He advised the party to be smart, noting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) took its presidential candidate to Katsina state in 2015, despite the fact that the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua was also from Katsina at the time.
Tambuwal told his party to focus on how to win the election rather than office zoning.
