Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, founder of Adoration Ministry Enugu, has apologised to Peter Obi, a presidential candidate for the Labour Party.
In a statement, Mbaka wished Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, success in his bid to become Nigeria’s president.
According to Shauntv, Mbaka has been highly criticised because he referred to Obi as a “stingy guy” and “a joker” who cannot be the President of Nigeria.
In a letter headed ‘Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka Bless His Excellency Peter Obi and His Supporters,’ Mbaka pleaded for forgiveness and understanding.
In the letter, the controversial Catholic priest asked that God may grant Obi his heart’s wishes.
He condemned the growing insecurity in Nigeria, which he ascribed to poor leadership, and he urged young Nigerians to hope that God, in his compassion, may provide Nigeria a president who shares his values.
“I am a servant of God, and my purpose is not to tarnish the reputation of His Excellency, Peter Obi, but rather to pray for him. May his life be guided by God’s will. I beseech the God I serve to provide our beloved people with exemplary leaders who will care for them and guide them to the promised land. Whoever God chooses as our leader is my decision.”
“In this spirit, I extend my best wishes to His Excellency Peter Obi and his followers, as well as to the other candidates and their supporters, whose goal is likewise to provide Nigeria with excellent leaders. If the followers of Mr. Peter Obi were upset by my words or if they misconstrued me in any way, I beg their apologies and understanding. As a servant of the Most High God, I pray for my people’s prosperity. I am a passionate advocate for Good Governance, Justice, Equity, Love, and Godliness.
“I have no intention of fighting or maligning Mr. Peter Obi. He has always been my buddy and brother, and I adore him and wish him luck. God bless him and his devoted followers. May God’s will be accomplished in his political endeavours (Mk.14:36).
“The followers of Peter Obi are the same kids for whom I pray, sacrifice, battle, advocate, and strive for their holistic well-being. What the adolescents are experiencing and their situations keep me up at night. This is why I desire for excellent government and deserving leaders who would look after them. This country is experiencing incredible, painful, and unjustified agony. I ask God for intervention.
“I am not a member of a political party, but I support decent people and good government. Any nice individual that God can bestow upon us is my ideal candidate. I am a servant of God; for the sake of peace, I beg pardon for any misunderstandings.
