Three police officers were killed early Saturday morning in an attack on the Adavi police station in Kogi State by gunmen thought to be Terrorist bandits.
PPRO William Ovye Aya of the Kogi State Police verified the news in a statement released on Saturday in Lokoja.
Command received reports of an unfortunate incident at Adavi Police Division, where some hoodlums attacked the station from an opposite direction, firing sporadically, but were repelled by officers on duty and Quick Response Unit operatives who were conducting special operations in the Local Government.”
He reported that three officers were killed in the shootout, and that the thugs who were involved fled the scene after being unable to enter the station unharmed.
In order to restore order and catch the criminals, the state’s commissioner of police, CP Edward Egbuka, has sent a tactical operative squad to the region, according to Aya.
Anyone with bullet wounds should be reported to police or other security personnel in the area, according to a command issued by the Adavi command.
