Sunday’s attack by rebels on civilians in the Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State resulted in at least 40 deaths and an undetermined number of injuries, according to sources.
According to our correspondent, a big number of rebels surrounded unarmed civilians and began to massacre them.
In a conversation with BBC Hausa that was watched by our journalist, the area’s federal representative, the Honorable Zainab Gimba, verified the happenings.
She stated that the occurrence was really tragic and asked the military to do more to save lives and property.
Monday evening, a security source told Journalist that numerous scavengers were slain and buried according to Islamic customs.
According to another source, Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in Lake Chad, dozens of fighters attacked peasant farmers working in their fields with machetes.
The search for bodies continues after villagers were attacked on their fields in Rann, the capital of the Kala-Balge Local Government Area in the northeastern region of Borno State, by gunmen on motorbikes.
“More than 40 farmers were murdered by terrorists, who dismembered some of the bodies while slitting the necks of others.
“The victims were buried on Monday, and locals say that many others are still missing,” Zagazolo said.
