Rev. Fr. Vitus Borogo, a Catholic priest, was assassinated in Kaduna State by a group of suspect terrorists.
The event reportedly occurred at Prison Facility, Kujama, along the Kaduna-Kachia Road, during a search on the farm.
Rev. Fr. Christian Emmanuel of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria stated in a statement that the deceased was 50 years old.
The statement reads: “It is with a heavy heart, but with absolute resignation to God’s will that we announce the death of Rev. Fr. Vitus Borogo, which occurred today at Prison Farm, Kujama, along the Kaduna-Kachia Road, following a terrorist raid on the farm. Fr. Vitus (age 50) was Chaplain of the Catholic Community at the Kaduna State Polytechnic and Chairman of the Kaduna Chapter of the Nigerian Catholic Diocesan Priests Association (NCDPA) until his death.
“The Most Reverend Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna, extends his condolences to the immediate family, the NFCS Family of Kaduna Polytechnic, and the entire Kaduna Polytechnic Community, assuring them of his brotherly closeness and prayers.
“Arrangements for his funeral will be publicised as soon as feasible. Meanwhile, we entrust his soul to the maternal intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and ask all people of good will to continue praying for his soul’s quiet repose and for the consolation of his grieved family, especially his mother.”
