Terrorist killed four people, including a police officer, in Anambra state on Monday.
Two were slain at Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area, while two others were assassinated near a church on Ozubulu’s Udorji Road, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
This comes only four days after five people were slain at an Osumenyi beer parlour and a policewoman in Ukpor, both in the state’s Nnewi South Local Government Area.
According to The Nation, the couple assassinated in Ukpor, Godwin Ikechukwu Modobi and Nnajiofor Modobi, were siblings from Umuhu village in Ukpor.
According to family members, Godwin Modobi was Nnajiofor Modobi’s immediate younger brother and was also a previous youth leader in the neighbourhood.
“The gunmen murdered Nnajiofor immediately upon entering their residence in the early hours of Monday.
“They then blindfolded and grabbed the younger brother, whom they finally murdered near the Utuh intersection and dumped his corpse in the middle of the road,” the source continued.
Close to the corpse, which is lying in a pool of blood with bullet wounds to his chest and other areas of the body, were also spotted fired bullets.
When contacted, Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu verified the event, stating that one of the deceased at Utuh, Nnewi was a police officer, adding that the Toyota Camry transporting the deceased was seized by the Police.
“We received reports of two decomposing bodies near the Nnewi/Ozubulu route. Our agents got there immediately and found the two bodies.
“Preliminary investigations found that one of them was a police officer, while the identity of the other remains unknown.
“We also seized a Toyota Camry that was purportedly registered to one of the dead. There are agents on the scene, and the situation is being closely monitored. That is all I know at the moment,” he stated.
