Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma yesterday urged politicians across the country to play politics without venom and to put an end to bloodshed in the pursuit of political power.
He was speaking to media at the State House after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He refuted the suggestion that the administration in power was encouraging banditry, questioning how the governors of Imo, Kaduna, and Ebonyi could be content with the devastation of property and life in their own states.
“I’m no longer in question as to who is funding terrorists in Nigeria,” Uzodinma stated. Those who wish to make Nigeria unruly cannot be the ones in power right now. After all, there are no elections this year. Elections should begin next year.
“Nigerians should be more patriotic; our national interests should come first.”
He stated that two terrorists were apprehended following the assassination of an Independent National Electoral Commission officer and were assisting police in the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assassination of the INEC staffer working on the voter registration exercise.
