Seven individuals have been murdered by bandits in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The most recent attack occurred less than twenty-four hours after 48 people were murdered in three communities in the Bakura Local Government Area of the state.
Saturday afternoon, May 7, two villages, Faru and Kauyen Minane, were attacked, according to a local source in Maradun.
Jamilu Muhammad told Premium Times, “I was at the Maradun General Hospital when the army brought the bodies of those killed.”
“According to residents of the village of Garin Minane, the bandits assaulted the town shortly before 2 p.m. and began firing randomly. They used to do house-to-house searches for domestic animals and other valuables, but as soon as they entered the village yesterday, they began firing randomly,” he added.
He stated that six people were killed in Garin Minane and one person was killed in Faru, adding that the death toll could rise as many people remain missing in the impacted areas.
“They buried the deceased here in Maradun since it was hard to return to the villages for fear that the bandits would return,”
He stated that all seven victims were male. Four of them were killed on the outskirts of the village of Garin Minane as they returned from the farm.
