Three Nigerian Army troops have been murdered by a terrorist-planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Katsina State’s Danmusa local government area.

According to a military source, the forces were conducting a special operation in the Kaiga neighbourhood when one of their trucks collided with the IED laid by the militants.

Additionally, the source stated that those who sustained injuries were brought to a hospital in Katsina for treatment.

“They were on their way from Mara to Kaiga when they were attacked by bandits who had planted an IED in Kaiga,” the insider explained. Three troops were killed in total. One of them was severely burned by the patrol van. Those injured and killed in action have been transported to BMC Kastina.

“Both the KIA and WIA have been relocated to BMC Katsina. The EOD was dispatched to the area to conduct a search, but no other IEDs were discovered.”

Major General Jimmy Akpor, Director, Defence Information, could not be reached for comment at the time of this report.

Similarly, Major General Benard Onyeuko, Director of Defence Media Operations, could not be located, although video footage from sources depicted a horrific scene of the attack.
