Unidentified gunmen killed two policemen from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in Okigwe town in Imo state on Wednesday.
The officers were part of the Imo state government’s combined security task team, Operation Search and Flush.
An early-morning attack on the Umulolo part of town is said to have occurred on Wednesday.
Our correspondent was told by a security source that the Unidentified gunmen ambushed the Correctional officials.
Dynamite was said to have been placed into their automobiles by their assailants. In the immediate aftermath, two police officers were murdered and others were sent to the hospital.
It was discovered that just one Hilux vehicle had been damaged by the explosives.
Owerri’s command headquarters reported that the unharmed vehicle had been returned to base.
Goodluck Uboegbulem, the command’s spokeswoman, said the centre has not yet received a complete report on the event.
