Two suspects have been apprehended by the Bauchi State Police Command for murdering a 20-year-old commercial rider and stealing his motorcycle.
SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Thursday, March 31, that the suspects, Nura Ibrahim and Auwalu Manu, butchered the victim, Auwalu Gidado, took his motorbike worth N330,000 and sold it for N90,000.
“On the 23rd of March, 2022, an intelligence report at the Command’s disposal revealed that one Nura Ibrahim and Auwalu Manu of Walakero village, Futuk ward Alkaleri L.G.A criminally conspired among themselves and lured one Auwalu Gidado, aged 20yrs of the same address, who happens to be a commercial motorcycle rider AKA (Achaba) from Walakero village to Balande village, Alkaler
“On their route, the two suspects, Nura Ibrahim and Auwalu Manu, cruelly killed Auwalu Gidado, a motorbike rider, with a sharp knife, abandoned the body in a nearby bush, and took his motorcycle to an unknown location.
“Following receipt of the information, the Command’s detectives acted quickly and the investigation began in earnest, with both suspects being tracked down and apprehended.
During interrogation, the suspects readily admitted to killing Auwalu Gidado (Victim) and fleeing with the Bajaj motorbike valued at N330, 000, which they sold for N90,000 at Talasse village, Gombe State, and divided the proceeds among themselves.
“The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court after the inquiry is completed.”
