Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and one of the party’s presidential aspirants, stated that Nigerians require a president similar to himself.
Bola Tinubu made the remark while mingling with APC delegates in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, prior to the APC’s presidential primary.
He stated that he recognised agriculture as one of Yobe’s most promising sectors and that, if elected, he would design a strategy to maximise its potential in order to attract international market.
“I imagined the millet, sorghum, corn, and groundnuts that are sent from this axis to the rest of the globe, so I can conclude that Yobe farmers are doing well, but they need help and encouragement.”
The first step, according to him, is to assure farmers’ easy access to their land by ensuring security.
As a businessman, he stated that his government would reinstate the “Marketing Board,” a government organisation established to manage commodities pricing that had been eliminated by the military rule.
“We must have a totally safe nation, our economy must be restructured, we need non-oil earnings, our children require a great and accessible education, and much more, so if you vote for me, you’ll have these guarantees.”
He praised Governor Buni for creating an international cargo airport that will facilitate intrastate and international trade.
Tinubu was attended by his campaign director and former Borno State governor, Senator Kashim Shettima, former Nasarawa State governor, Senator Tanko Almakura, Kashim Imam, and Nuhu Ribadu, among others.
