According to the Presidency, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will die, “as anticipated by one of its presidential contenders,” if its main aim for the country is an agitation worse than EndSARS as a result of the current scenario.
Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, claimed this in a statement headed “Destabilization: PDP Gives Itself Away.”
He advised the PDP to focus on promoting national peace and togetherness rather than worrying about an insurrection worse than EndSARS, which he described as involving murder, mayhem, mass destruction, and cannibalism.
He claimed that the PDP has exposed itself as just interested in destabilizing the country in order to reclaim power.
“Less than 24 hours after the Department of State Services (DSS) raised alarm about sinister plots by some elements to cause disorder in the country using the energy crisis as a smokescreen, the PDP issued a statement, saying: ‘Our party fears that the situation is reaching a boiling point and can trigger a nationwide agitation that could be worse than the October 2020 EndSARS if not addressed immediately,’ Adesina said.
“Which patriotic political party or organization has ever threatened its country with anarchy, social turmoil, and disorderliness, unless it is still stinging from having its snout ripped from the honeypot, as the PDP did in 2015?”
“However, we would like to remind the now dormant opposition party that Nigerians booted it out seven years ago, and those same Nigerians have not forgotten the hardships they faced at a time when the country was awash in cash: no power, no infrastructure, insurgents ran riot across the country, and our collective patrimony was looted blind.” Those same Nigerians are not ready for another PDP misrule, either now or in the foreseeable future.
“Rather than plotting and encouraging “agitation worse than October 2020 EndSARS,” as it may well be imagining, the PDP should fight for national harmony and cohesiveness, assuming it ever comprehends such a concept.
“The term “EndSARS” conjured up images of death, mayhem, vast destruction, and even cannibalism. The PDP now wishes for Nigeria’s demise. A PDP presidential candidate has warned that unless the party wins the country’s top office by 2023, it will die. And die it would, since the party wants nothing worse for the country than EndSARS.”
In a statement released on Sunday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba, warned that there was a limit to what the people could suffer under an administration that was arrogant, heartless, careless, and indifferent to their plights caused by its misrule.
“Is it not an unpardonable dereliction of duty that President Muhammadu Buhari remains aloof and “absent” as usual while the nation is in turmoil and agonizing under a collapsed national grid, protracted fuel crisis, distressed aviation sector, plummeting currency, crippled production and commercial activities?”
“Other than his snobby position that “heavens will not fall” due of gasoline scarcity, President Buhari, who also serves as Minister of Petroleum Resources, has failed to take quick action, amounting to daring Nigerians to do their worst.”
