Musiliu Smith, the chairman of the Nigerian Police Service Commission, chastised officers on Wednesday for reporting several incidences of harassment of civilians.
When Deputy Inspector-General of Police David Folawiyo was being paraded out of Force Headquarters, he gave a speech.
It was mentioned by him, “Have fear of God in your relationships with others and prepare yourself for higher levels and make sure you’re always good team workers.
Folawiyo has made it there, and I’d want to appeal to those of you who are still behind. It’s not simple for an officer to get there.”
Many of us (police officers) are not a benefit to the force, and you know it! Please, aspire, be a good representative of the force, be a good ambassador of your family, because I, as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, have seen a lot of misconduct, and we’ve been merciless in dealing with those who want to continue to stain the name of the force and the name of our country. “
Ag. DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, a member of the Force Management Team and the coordinating DIG in charge of the South-West geographical zone, has been cleared by the IGP to join the Force Headquarters.
Until recently, Kokumo served as the AIG in charge of the Zone-2 Headquarters, Lagos, and now heads the Department of Research and Planning of the Nigerian Police Force.
