Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has rejected calls to take away the Ebubeagu security outfit from the governors.
Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary General, said: “Some frontline leaders of the Igbo people alleged that the outfit was formed without any consultations and without people’s consent.
“The Southeast governors must be encouraged to provide sufficient logistic support as well as restore the chairman of their Security Committee as soon as possible, since he resigned owing to logistical issues. Ebubeage was constructed on sentiments and emotional grounds, unlike Amotekun, where the Southwest governors provided adequate facilities and logistics.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo is not burdened with constitutional duties to protect lives and property in the Southeast, and we are independently funded by Ndigbo communities without government participation. Putting the responsibility of Ebubeagu on us will be horrible. “Southeast governors are capable of providing logistics, and we support them fully.”
