Sunday, bandits shot down an Alpha Jet of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). Military aircraft has been reported to have crashed, but the authorities deny the report.

NAF spokesman, Edward Gabkwet, also released a statement on Monday, saying the aircraft was attacked while returning from an interdiction mission between Zamfara and Kaduna states.

Nevertheless, he said all occupants of the aircraft, including the pilot, were rescued after the aircraft’s gallant pilot, Flight Lieutenant Abayomi Dairo, successfully ejected from it.

He claims that, after the pilot came under intense ground fire from the bandits, he was able to evade them and take refuge in nearby settlements waiting for sunset.
