Six suspected gunmen attempted to attack the Imo State Police Command headquarters on Sunday morning, June 6.
Joseph Uka Nnachi, aka Dragon, was one of the six men killed during the attempted attack.
A killer-squad commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/Eastern Security Network (ESN), he is alleged to be.
More than 70 percent of the killings in Southeast are believed to have been committed by Dragon.
Four AK47 rifles were allegedly recovered from the deceased, believed to have been transported in a bus for the operation before they were repelled.
Police allege that the five other suspects killed alongside Dragon were his key men.
Among the recovered items are four Ak47 rifles all belonging to police officers killed in two police stations, six bombs, 2000 rounds of AK47 ammunition, seven AK47 magazines, and two operational buses, one loaded with explosives.
