The inauguration of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s newly formed board has been postponed by order of President Muhammadu Buhari (NNPC).
Wednesday’s exercise has been canceled till further notice.
The inauguration of the board was postponed without explanation.
Boss Mustapha, the SGF’s secretary, said in a statement that a new date would be announced in due course.
For the time being, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate suspension of the induction of the new board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) until further notice.”
“A new date for the Board’s inauguration will be announced at a later date.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconveniences this suspension may have caused,” stated the statement.
According to the Daily Trust, Buhari approved the appointment of the NNPC Limited Board and Management on September 19, this year, with Senator Ifeanyi Ararume as Chairman; Mr Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was named the Chief Executive Officer, with Umar I. Ajiya as the Chief Financial Officer.
Others are Dr. Tajudeen Umar of the North East, Lami O’Ahmed of the North Center, Mohammed Lawal of the North West, Margaret Chuba Okadigbo of the South East, Constance Harry Marshal of the South South, and Chief Pius Akinyelure of the North South (South West).
