An investigation panel established up by the Academic Staff Union of Universities has confirmed the nomination of Minister of Communication Isa Pantami as a professor of cybersecurity (ASUU).
ASUU’s branch at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri has established a committee to probe the selection of Pantami as the new vice chancellor.

The Cybersecurity Department offered him a position as Professor of Cybersecurity, which he accepted in writing.”
Academic Staff Appraisal and Promotion Committee (ASAPC-Professional) sitting on March 17th, 2021 presented the Dr. Isa Ibrahim case. Committee members debated the topic and suggested that the FUTO Council approve the proposal for consideration. On March 18, 2021, the Council voted unanimously to designate Dr. Isa Ibrahim as a Professor of Cybersecurity.
Dr. Isa Ibrahim’s papers and productive efforts were referred for external evaluation after the clearance of the prima facie case.” The external evaluation was satisfactory, and the Council confirmed his appointment as a Professor of Cybersecurity on August 20th, 2021, at their meeting. Following his selection by the FUTO Governing Council, he was awarded a tenure-track position as a Professor of Cybersecurity.”
FUTO’s Governing Council appointed Dr. Isa Ibrahim Pantami as a professor of Cybersecurity in accordance with due process, and the panel recommended that “the university management should as a matter of urgency take appropriate actions, including legal action, against those who deliberately tried to drag the image and reputation of FUTO into the mud”.
