Anambra state’s traditional rulers have been given seven days to release members of Indigenous People of Biafra or lose their status as traditional rulers.
Emma Powerful, the Publicity Secretary of the group, issued the warning to newsmen. Youths in the state are alleged to have recently engaged in a faceoff with Naval officers and the traditional rulers facilitated their arrest.
In its statement, the IPOB warned monarchs that they would face dire consequences if they did not ensure the release of the arrested youths.
“We demand the unconditional release of all youths who have been arrested by the Navy at Atani and other communities in Ogbaru, Anambra State. You, evil monarchs, should not fail to release those arrested by naval officers in the affected communities within seven days if you doubt our resolve to deal with you. Should the arrested youths not be released after seven days, the treacherous traditional rulers and President Generals who orchestrated their ordeals should prepare to reap the wrath of their treachery!”
