The former governor of Imo State and senator for Imo West District, Rochas Okorocha, has warned Igbos against trying to break away from Nigeria.
Groups such as the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, have intensified their efforts to disintegrate Nigeria in the Southern region.
Furthermore, the Yorubas have now begun calling for the creation of the Oduduwa Republic, thus increasing secession calls.
However, Okorocha has now warned that the Igbo will be the most affected if Nigeria splits up, saying the South-East must focus on fixing the country and not destroying it.
It is only an Igbo man who goes to a place and stays there, buys a land and builds a house for his family without feeling insecure. Okorocha told some women groups in Abuja over the weekend that the Igbos will lose more if Nigeria splits.
“Most successful Nigerian leaders had something to do with the Igbos. Either they married Igbo women or they had some link with them. I can name names like former President (Olusegun) Obasanjo; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; and Buba Marwa, just to name a few”.
