Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial district in the 8th Assembly from 2015-2019, has finally joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The senator was unable to serve in the senate in 2019 after a dispute with then serving Governor Nasir el-Rufai could not be reconciled. She was elected to the senate on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Because of the wrangling between the two, Sani was unable to obtain the party ticket and defected to the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), where he ran for office but lost.
The senator recently left the PRP, but he did not specify his new party.
Malam Suleiman Ahmed, a close aide to Senator Shehu Sani, confirmed his defection, saying, “Yes, Senator Shehu Sani has finally settled on joining the PDP, but the official ceremony and reception will take place within the next two weeks.”
In a meeting with relevant PDP stakeholders in Kaduna on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, Sani confirmed his defection, according to him.
