According to reports, police operatives killed many suspected members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the militia wing of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) group, during a raid on their camps in Imo State on Friday.
According to reports, the raid took place around 4 a.m. in Atta, Izombe and Ideato North areas of the state.
operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Special Tactical Squad (STS), Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) and other special forces carried out the operation and completely overran three camps alleged to be belonging to IPOB/ESN.
Several weapons, stolen vehicles, explosives, gun powders, charms, weed, ammunition, hard drugs, and the flags of the group were found during the raids, according to sources.
It wasn’t specified how many suspects were killed, but a source familiar with the operation said many of them were killed during gun battles inside the forest.
Six of the suspects have been apprehended and are assisting police with their investigation.
