Chelsea advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals with a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Boro defeated Manchester United and Tottenham to go to the last eight, but Thomas Tuchel’s Premier League side had no such problems at the Riverside Stadium.
Romelu Lukaku scored after just 15 minutes, and Hakim Ziyech added a second in the first half, while Boro mustered only one attempt on target, which came in the 85th minute.
Chelsea will now await the identity of their semi-final opponent in Sunday’s last-four draw, with the games due to take place at Wembley Stadium on April 16 and 17.
Mason Mount’s early cross eluded Christian Pulisic’s despairing dive at the back post, but Chelsea took the lead soon after.
Mount found space down the right after a sweeping play out of defence, and he whipped across for Lukaku to tap-in.
Ziyech extended the advantage 16 minutes later, finishing into the bottom-left corner from beyond the area after Mount offloaded.
Mount’s second assist of the game brought him to 50 goals for Chelsea in all competitions, while Anfernee Dijksteel cleared Lukaku’s cross off the line before the break.
As Chris Wilder’s team upped the tempo early in the second half, Folarin Balogun curled over and Duncan Watmore missed the target similarly.
As Chelsea cruised to victory, Joe Lumley blocked a flicked Timo Werner header from Mount’s inswinging free-kick, and Edouard Mendy turned away from Watmore.
