The self-proclaimed Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho has pledged to continue the rally that his group planned for Saturday.
The Department of State Services (DSS) raided Igboho’s residence in Ibadan on Wednesday, which led to the cancellation of the rally.
Igboho said the rally would take place on Thursday in a Facebook live broadcast.
Olayomi Koiki, his media aide, spoke on his behalf.
I can confirm that the Lagos rally will go ahead as planned, regardless of what you have heard from different outlets.”
“The 3rd of July Mega rally will go according to schedule. All arrangements for the rally have been made and nothing has changed.
“I spoke to the organisers, and nothing has changed so far. From exactly 9:00am on the 3rd of July. The whole arrangement and planning is in progress.”
The police had warned Igboho to avoid Lagos, saying hoodlums were planning to hijack the rally.
