Three worshippers were abducted from a ECWA church in Kogi State by gunmen suspected to be bandits.
On Sunday, September 19, there was an incident at the ECWA Church in Okedayo, Kabba, the headquarters of the Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of the state.
Five armed gunmen wielding AK-47 rifles are reported to have invaded the church located along the Kabba-Okene expressway about 8am, shooting sporadically while making their way inside.
Some worshipers took cover while others attempted to escape but were kidnapped.
One worshiper was killed by the gunmen as he made his way to church on Sunday.
Nigerian Tribune quoted a source as saying, “Four people were killed and three were taken away after gunshots rang out.”. The source said the shot left the members confused and scrambling for safety.
He was identified as the Deputy Chief Security Officer of a higher education institution in the area.
The State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP William Aya, confirmed the kidnapping and said officers were on the trail of the kidnappers.
