More than five people have been abducted in Tegina, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, police said.
Earlier in the year, bandits kidnapped students from an Islamiyya school in the town of Tegina.
Gunmen returned to the village this weekend, according to sources who spoke to the Daily Trust, and kidnapped five industrial employees.
The robbers, who were estimated to number about ten, were believed to be equipped with AK47s.
According to the informant, the group entered the town at about 9 p.m. and proceeded to a sachet water manufacturing location located opposite Government Girls’ Secondary School.
“They took us completely by surprise since they approached on foot. We had only just begun to hear gunfire when we decided to flee for our lives. Five people were hauled away when they went to the sachet water facility, according to a reliable source.
When approached, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Police Command, said that he was attending a meeting.
At the time of reporting this report, he said that he would answer later, but had not done so at that time.
