Gunmen attacked Isu and Onicha Igboeze communities in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebony State yesterday, killing 10 people, including policemen.

In the same local government area, two policemen were reportedly killed in Isu while others were killed in Onicha Igboeze.

However, two lawyers were also alleged to have been killed by the gunmen.

South East Trust learned that the lawyers were on transit when they encountered the gunmen.

Gunmen snatched the lawyers’ Lexus jeep and set it ablaze.

Recent weeks have seen an increase in killings in Onicha Igboeze.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah, and State Consultant on Internal Security, Stanley Emeragha, confirmed the incident.

Odah and Emeragha said the details of the incident were sketchy, but that the police had dispatched a team to the area.

David Umahi, the state governor, called on the gunmen to surrender their arms and accept the amnesty offered by the state government only 24 hours earlier.
