On Monday, police in the Federal Capital Territory denied any of their officers shot Mr Omoyele Sowore.

Mariam Yusuf, a spokesperson for the command, in a statement on Monday said contrary to the report, police operatives on the scene professionally re-established calm at the  protest venue.

“The FCT Command wishes to dispel the viral message that ‘Omoyele Sowore was shot by a female assistant commissioner of police’ at the Unity Fountain”, the statement titled ‘Police restore calm at the Unity Fountain’ reads.

After protesters attempted to incite a disturbance at Unity Fountain, police operatives professionally restored calm.

“Police operatives prevented the protesters from causing a breakdown of law and order by resisting their rampage. As of the time of this release, no such incident had been reported.

According to the command, residents should remain calm and law-abiding while reaffirming their commitment to the protection of lives and property.
