Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation, had just defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC). He claimed that the party is very different!
Critics had theorized that he would rather die than join the APC in 2019, following an announcement earlier this year that he would rather die than join the party in 2019.
In a series of tweets, the former Minister denied rumors that he had defected to the APC.
“No matter what happens, I am committed to opposing the APC and those in its ranks for the rest of my natural life.At the time, he had said.
Fani-Kayode told Channels TV that the current APC leadership is quite different from that of the past.
Apparently, he would not have joined if the leadership had remained the same.
“The APC itself has changed a great deal in the last two years,” he said. Do you agree with me? You work as a political commentator. There have been events in the APC, there have been events in the PDP, so until they throw a punch at me and I respond, I won’t talk about the PDP on this program.
The APC I was referring to at that time is not the APC we have today. During that time, the APC did not have the kind of leadership we have today, and I can say that anywhere.
“Today you have a man who is the National Caretaker Committee Chairman of this party and that is Governor Mai Buni who has served exceptionally well in attracting people and presenting a broad based pluralistic view on national issues and national affairs and he has opened the doors of the party to all manners of people with plurality of views and you can defend your purpose and fight your cause from within and that is the difference between that time and this time. “The old APC was a very different environment and had the leadership not changed, I would not have changed. What we have today is an accommodating party that is ready to take people on and it is ready to listen to dissenting opinions even from within provided you conduct yourself in a mature and decent manner and that is what we have been doing.”
