atiku takes a new shot at tinubu, saying his memory may be failing

Atiku Abubakar and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s current blame game took a new twist on Sunday, with the latest punch coming from the former vice president’s camp.

Atiku’s interview with ARISE TV on Friday sparked the tense confrontations.

The PDP candidate had indicated in 2007 that Tinubu wanted to be his running partner, but he turned it down because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket that the PDP had proposed.

Tinubu, on the other hand, countered by claiming that Atiku had persuaded him to be his running mate in 2007.

Atiku, the politician who criticised him over the Muslim-Muslim ticket, had no problem with the same-faith ticket when he urged him (Tinubu) to be his running mate in 2007, the Lagos Politician stated.

Later, the Tinubu Campaign Organization made an announcement claiming that Atiku’s interview had “gaps.”

Paul Ibe, Atiku’s Media Adviser, challenged Tinubu to an hour-long TV interview in his answer.

Atiku’s campaign fired another shot while Tinubu was still debating how to respond to the challenge.

Even though Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s answer to Atiku Abubakar’s interview with Arise TV was laced with indiscreet language, the former Vice President has decided to respond to the charges made by Asiwaju.

The Asiwaju, he hopes, will repay his gesture in the future by answering with a kind retort.” According to the Waziri, if Atiku Abubakar offers to make Bola Tinubu his running partner in 2007, it is important that they use temperate language at all times, as he thinks Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to be or should be. Not only does this demonstrate their experience and maturity, but it also serves as a solid indicator of their suitability for the workplace.

Our response would not be like Asiwaju’s sarcastic rebuke of PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s Arise TV interview, but rather measured tones.”

When Asiwaju Tinubu said that the Waziri Adamawa had offered him the chance to be his running partner in 2007, he was alleging that the former Vice President had not taken into account Nigeria’s religious and ethnic diversity at the time.

To claim that Bola Tinubu has lied would be an overstatement.” Rather, we want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that his memory may not be what it used to be, and that he may not remember everything.

On September 14, 2005, then US Consul General Brian L. Browne produced a report, published via Wikileaks, in which he indicated that Bola Tinubu was conspiring to be a running mate to either Atiku Abubakar or Muhammadu Buhari.

Following political history in Nigeria has historically confirmed this. At the time, Buhari was running for president, and his biographers have reported that then-opposition leader Bola Tinubu asked him the same question.

Professor John Paden, an American, published the following in his 2016 AUTHORISED biography of President Muhammadu Buhari, titled ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria.’

Former Lagos State Governor and South-West geopolitical ‘godfather’ Tinubu felt he should be the VP candidate.”

“It’s obvious that there’s a pattern here. According to Asiwaju Tinubu’s remarks, Atiku Abubakar is clearly not “unhinged from the truth.” No matter what the case may be, why should he care about 2007 and 2015 if he can’t even remember the name of his own political party? It’s hard not to feel sorry for him.

No matter how hard we try, maintaining religious and ethnic harmony must begin at the very top of a nation’s hierarchy, and then trickle down.”

In an interview with Arise TV on Thursday, July 21, 2022, Atiku Abubakar stated that, and he stands by that principle and will never apologise for it. In light of the preceding, it is evident that many unrelated third parties have verified His Excellency Atiku Abubakar’s memory and recollection of the event, and this matter would have been considered proven beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law.

On June 22, 2022, Bola Tinubu himself denied that he had lobbied for the position of Vice President under a Muslim-Muslim ticket, and instead accused President Muhammadu Buhari of offering him the position. We would like to remind Nigerians of this.”

In other words, he’s repeating the same bogus claim he made against Atiku Abubakar. This is a regular occurrence. Not acknowledging his mistakes.

We hope that this puts the matter to rest and that we can expect civility from our opponents going forward,” Atiku stated in a statement released on his behalf by Ibe.
