The ruling party’s determination to rotate its national positions between the North and South resulted in the election of Senator Abdullahi Adamu of the North Central as national chairman.

Prior to the convention, Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai stated that while the APC had not yet decided on zoning the presidential ticket, the shifting of national positions indicated the party’s presidential candidate’s origin.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set a deadline of June 3 for political parties to submit candidate names.

At the party’s primary scheduled for May 30/June 1, four South West presidential contenders are anticipated to face off against other presidential aspirants from other zones.
