On Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja for New York City, where he will attend the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77).

The President’s entourage includes Aisha Buhari, the First Lady, as well as several Governors, Ministers, and other high-ranking government officials.

His spokesman, Femi Adesina, released a statement on Saturday saying that “A watershed Moment: Transformative Solutions to Interlocking Challenges” will be the topic of the 77th session, which began on Tuesday, September 13.

He went on to say that this year’s United Nations General Assembly would focus on a number of important issues, including the conflict in Ukraine, the energy crisis, climate action, the eradication of the COVID-19 epidemic, and a unique Transforming Education Summit.

The National Statement will be given by President Buhari, according to the presidential spokesman, on the second day of the General Debates, September 21.

In addition to making a speech, the President will take part in a number of high-level meetings and side events, such as the Nigeria International Economic Partnership Forum (NIEPF), hosted by Nigeria in collaboration with the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU); the MDG Forum’s Strengthening Coordination through the National Humanitarian Development Peace (NHDP) Framework: A Practical Approach to Sustainable Durable Solutions to Ensure No One Is Left Behind; and the BCIU’s Nigeria International Economic Partnership Forum.

According to Adesina, President Buhari will use his time in New York to have crucial bilateral talks with world leaders, prominent investors, and the heads of global organisations.

He also mentioned that the President would be returning on Monday, September 26.
