Bandits who kidnapped passengers on a train destined for Kaduna last month reportedly threatened to murder them if the federal government does not satisfy their demands.

The armed men stated in a video published on Wednesday that they were not interested in money and that the Federal Government was aware of their demands.

Four of the criminals were seen in the film, which lasted less than two minutes, together with one of the abducted passengers, Mr Alwan Hassan, Managing Director of Bank of Agriculture.

The MD was freed owing to his age and in the spirit of Ramadan, according to one of them, who spoke in Hausa.

The attackers, dressed in military attire, recorded the video at the Forward Operational Base in Polwire, Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, which was assaulted on Monday, according to Daily Trust.

In the video, one of the Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) that were burned during the raid was utilized as a backdrop.

“We are the people that abducted rail passengers a few days ago. Among them is this man who was begging with us because of his advanced age, and we felt sorry for him because of Ramadan, therefore we wish to return him to his family.”

“However, the government should not misunderstand this; it is a gesture done out of compassion for him.”

The bandits then requested that the MD say a few words. Hassan stated briefly that he was released due to sympathy.

“I want everyone to know that they took pity on me because of my age.” I was instructed to go, but I want to reassure everyone that I left a large number of individuals behind, who are in desperate need of assistance in order to be freed quickly. I’m hoping that the authorities will meet with the group’s leader to have them released as soon as possible,” he stated.

“I want to underline that everything he stated is real,” one of the bandits continued. Don’t try to investigate us or rescue them right away since murdering them isn’t an issue for us. We don’t want your money; if we did, we wouldn’t have attacked in the first place. “You know what we’re looking for,” he added.
