The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has modified the electoral schedule by extending the deadline for political parties to hold their primaries.
The deadline was extended after the commission met with the leaders of the 18 registered political parties.
At the meeting held at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, the Inter Party Advisory Commission (IPAC) requested an extension of one week for political parties to complete their presidential conventions and primaries.
IPAC’s chairman, Engr Yabagi Yusuf Sani, urged INEC to alter the primary election date of 3 June.
Sani stated, “I would like to thank you for granting us formal time to meet with you once more to discuss how the parties can engage with you to achieve a crisis-free election as we hold our primaries.”
