Former President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the nomination and expression of interest forms that a group purchased on his behalf.

Monday night, Shauntv reported that the group obtained the documents in Abuja.

Nigerians have expressed outrage at the act. However, in a statement published on his behalf hours after the news of the form purchase became public, Jonathan stated that he did not know those responsible.

“The attention of the office of former President Goodluck Jonathan has been attracted to the apparent purchase of the Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest form by an entity named “FULANI GROUP” in his name.

“We desire to notify the general public, particularly Nigerians, that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has no knowledge of the individuals behind the supposed purchase of the form in his name and has no affiliation with the association.

“It should be emphasised that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is not now a member of the APC and hence could not have accepted such a gesture from those behind the move.

“While we appreciate the overwhelming call by a cross-section of Nigerians for Dr. Jonathan to run for president in 2023, we wish to state that he has not committed himself in any manner to this request, even though some of them are patriotic.
