Today, President Muhammadu Buhari is set to swear in Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola (Monday).
This follows Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad’s resignation for health reasons.
The Supreme Court’s most senior Justice, Ariwoola, will be sworn in at 2:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.
According to sources, he will operate as CJN until the President forwards his name to the Senate for approval as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
Born on 22 August 1954 in the state of Oyo, Justice Ariwoola was previously a Justice of Appeal until being appointed to the Supreme Court bench in 2011.
