During a violent fight between Kutep and Fulani herdsmen in the Tarti region of the Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, six military personnel and a mobile police officer were killed.

DSP Usman Abdullahi, the state’s police spokesperson, reported this to Shauntv in Jalingo on Wednesday.

He stated that Eminike was the operation’s commanding officer in the troubled region and that he was declared missing throughout the operation.

Abdullahi said that Kutep and Fulani militia killed military soldiers and mobile police.

He stated that additional soldiers and police officers have been dispatched to the area to restore peace as the hunt for the missing army officer is escalated.

He stated that the number of those killed in the conflict could not be determined immediately.

According to him, militia from both sides have been engaged in a brutal conflict for the past few weeks, and the situation deteriorated on Tuesday, necessitating the deployment of additional military and police.

“The missing Army officer and the six military people slain were all members of the 93rd Battalion Takum,” Abdullahi stated.

A month prior, three police officers were slain in Takum after a conflict between Kutep and Jukun over Kutep’s annual cultural festival.
