ACP Aminu Umar, an assistant commissioner of police in Katsina, was killed by terrorists in an ambush in Dutsinma, Safana LGA, when a presidential advance team convoy travelling to Daura was also ambushed.

SP Gambo Isah, the spokesperson for the Police command in Katsina, stated that ACP Umar was killed in the ambush at Dutsinma.

He added that a second officer had perished.

Isah did not mention the President’s advance convoy, but it seems likely that he and Garba reported the same occurrence.

Isah provided a more vivid description of the terrorist strike.

“Today, July 5, 2022, at approximately 11:30 a.m., ACP Umar and his squad were assaulted by over 300 terrorists on motorbikes armed with AK 47 rifles and General Purpose Machine Guns, according to a distress call.

“The late Area Commander and members of his team were conducting a bandit/terrorist clearance operation in Zakka woodland, Safana LGA of the state.”

“As a result, the Area Commander and another brave soldier perished during an exchange of gunfire,” he continued.

Isah reported that the police commissioner, Idrisu Dabban-Dauda, has offered his deepest condolences to the families of the fallen officers.
Additionally, he beseeched God to provide the departed a place in Jannatul Firdausi.
