Gunmen have kidnapped the former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), the Honorable Ahmed Sani Toro.
He was reportedly abducted together with former Golden Eaglets assistant coach Garba Iliya Friday night on the Abuja-Jos road.
On Friday, both men were reportedly returning to Bauchi after attending the wedding of the son of a former NFF president, Alhaji Aminu Maigari.
A football player in Bauch State who is a close friend of the abductees stated that those responsible for their abduction had not yet contacted their families.
He stated, “It is true that they were kidnapped at Ryom, in the state of Plateau, while coming to Bauchi from Abuja.
“On Friday, they attended the Fatiha of Alhaji Aminu Maigari’s son at the National Mosque in Abuja.
“I’ve communicated with their family members. Their abductors have yet to contact their families.
“We are all fervently praying and hoping that Allah will intercede in this awful situation and release them unharmed,” he stated.
Ahmed Sani Toro, a former Commissioner of Sports of Bauchi State and former member of the House of Representatives, served as Secretary General of the NFA from 1993 to 1999.
During his long career, the Super Eagles won their second AFCON title in 1994 in Tunisia, made their World Cup debut in the United States the same year, won gold at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and qualified for their second World Cup in 1998 in France.
